New Town Williamsburg Announces Availability of DC Fast Charging and Connects Richmond to Virginia Beach
Williamsburg, VA - New Town in James City County, Virginia is proud to announce the immediate availability of the first publicly-available, DC Fast Charger in the greater Williamsburg area. This charger enables owners to re-charge their electric and plug-in electric vehicles quickly and conveniently. The New Town charging station is located in the parking lot just east of the movie theater, near Courthouse Street about 1 mile east north-east of Route 199 from the Monticello Avenue exit. The new Fast Charger requires a Greenlots SKY Network membership which can be downloaded as an app for mobile phones.
“As an innovative and pedestrian-friendly community, New Town is thrilled to pioneer this fresh new service in the Williamsburg area. This electric vehicle charging station is made possible through a creative partnership with a variety of entities, including the New Town Commercial Association, and the Virginia Clean Cities Coalition. The DC Fast Charger enables residents, visitors, commuters, and even families on vacation to re-charge their vehicle while taking advantage of the broad array of convenient shopping, dining, entertainment, and personal and professional services in our community. The new Fast Charger is currently free for electric and plug-in electric vehicle charging,” states New Town manager, Randy Casey-Rutland.
Many electric vehicle drivers have already benefited from the deployment of DC Fast Chargers in Northern Virginia. This type of electric vehicle charger uses 208 volt, 100 amp electrical current and can re-charge a Nissan LEAF from 0% to 80% in 30 minutes. The charging station is equipped to provide service to both CHAdeMO (Nissan and Kia) and SAE (GM, VW, and BMW) standards. Drivers traveling from Richmond and Hampton Roads will now have a convenient location to stop and re-charge just off Interstate 64 while enjoying the restaurants, shops, services, and amenities in New Town. New Town is a 365-acre mixed-use development in Williamsburg, James City County, Virginia, located at the corner of Ironbound Road and Monticello Avenue, 1/2 mile east of Route 199. Shop, dine, and explore a community that includes an open air shopping mall with lots of free parking, national retailers and local shops, entertainment venues and a 12-screen theater, fine restaurants and quick eating spots, medical and dental offices, banks, credit unions and other financial institutions, salons, gyms, and various personal service providers, accounting and legal firms, not-for-profit and educational entities, a US post office, courthouse and other government offices, parks and walking trails, and residential homes, apartments, townhomes, and condominiums.
